1. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan

• Belon getah kecil (‘Small Rubber Balloon’)
• Sukarela yang berambut panjang dan kering (‘Volunteer with dry long hair’)

2. Tiup belon dan kemudian ikatkan (‘Blow up and tie off the balloon’)

3. Gosokkan belon dengan cepat pada belakang rambut anda beberapa kali.
(‘Rub the balloon quickly on your hair back and forth a number of times.’)

4. Perhatikan apa yang berlaku apabila anda mengangkat belon dari rambut anda. (Tapi pastikan rambut anda kering dan bersih).

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)

1. Apabila anda menggosokkan belon pada rambut, ia akan dicaskan dengan elektrostatik.
(‘When you rub the balloon on your hair, it becomes charged with static electricity.’)

2. Apabila getah menggelongsor di atas rambut, molekul - molekul getah membentuk ikatan sementara dengan molekul – molekul pada rambut dengan berkongsi elektron - elektron.
(‘As the rubber slides over the hair, molecules of rubber form temporary bonds with molecules in your hair by sharing some of their electrons.’)

3. Apabila belon terus digerakkan, ikatan terlerai, yang mana kadangkala meninggalkan satu atau dua elektron tertinggal pada bahagian yang salah ikatan. Elektron lebih menghabiskan masa pada sebelah getah dalam ikatan, belon akan mendapat lebih banyak elektron dan menjadi cas negatif! Sebaliknya, rambut anda yang kehilangan elektron dan ia menjadi cas positif (yang mana proton cas positif tidak diimbangi dengan bilangan elektron).
(‘When the balloon moves on, the bonds break, sometimes leaving an electron or two stranded on the wrong side of the bond. As the electrons spend slightly more time on the rubber side of the bond, the balloon ends up with many more electrons than it began with and leaving it with an overall negative charge! Conversely, you hair has lost some of its complement of electrons so it is now some of its positively charged protons are not cancelled out anymore and leaving the hair with an overall positive charge.’)

4. Objek yang bercas berlawanan akan tertarik antara satu sama lain, yang mana menyebabkan rambut tertarik pada belon.
